1. Who We Are

Sliding Door Repair UK ("we", "us", "our") operates the website sliding-door-repair.uk. We are a platform that connects UK homeowners with vetted independent door repair specialists. We match your enquiry to a suitable local specialist who then provides a quote and, if accepted, carries out the work.

For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK General Data Protection Regulation as supplemented by the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the data controller of the personal information you provide through our website, contact form, and telephone enquiries. Each independent specialist is a separate data controller in respect of the information they receive from us and any further information they collect directly from you.

[Company registration number to be inserted]. [ICO registration reference to be inserted]. For privacy enquiries, please email privacy@sliding-door-repair.uk.

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, understand how visitors use it, and remember your preferences. Full details are set out in our Cookie Policy.

3. How We Use It & Lawful Basis

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have assessed that our use is proportionate, has a minimal privacy impact, and would be reasonably expected by the individuals whose data we process. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time (see Section 7).

4. Sharing With Independent Specialists

The core function of our platform is to connect you with a suitable local door repair specialist. When you submit an enquiry, we share your name, contact details, city, door type, and problem description with the independent specialist we match to your job. This is how the specialist can contact you, understand your needs, and provide a quote.

Each specialist in our network is a separate data controller under UK GDPR. They are responsible for their own handling of your personal data from the point they receive it. We require specialists in our network to comply with data protection law and to use your data only for the purpose of providing the quote and, if accepted, carrying out the repair work.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may share data with service providers who help us operate the website (such as hosting providers and analytics services), under appropriate data processing agreements.

If we are required by law, court order, or a regulatory authority to disclose personal data, we will do so. We may also disclose data to protect our rights, property, or safety, or those of our users or others.

5. Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required to meet legal, accounting, or regulatory obligations.

Enquiry data (contact form submissions): retained for up to twelve months after the enquiry is resolved or closed, to allow us to handle any follow-up questions or complaints related to the repair. After this period, personal identifiers are deleted or anonymised.

Analytics data: retained in anonymised or aggregated form. IP addresses collected for analytics are truncated before storage where technically feasible and are not linked to identifiable individuals in our long-term records.

If you request deletion of your data (see Section 7 and our Data Deletion page), we will delete or anonymise your personal data within the statutory timeframe, unless a legal obligation requires us to retain it.

6. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, together with information about how we use it.
  • Right to rectification: If any data we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you may ask us to correct or complete it.
  • Right to erasure: In certain circumstances, you may ask us to delete your personal data. See our Data Deletion page for the full process.
  • Right to restrict processing: You may ask us to restrict how we process your data while a complaint or accuracy dispute is resolved.
  • Right to data portability: Where processing is based on consent or a contract, you may ask us to provide your data in a structured, commonly used format, or to transfer it directly to another controller.
  • Right to object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will stop processing unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

7. How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of the rights listed above, please email us at privacy@sliding-door-repair.uk. Please include enough detail for us to identify you and locate your data — typically your full name and the email address or phone number you used when submitting your enquiry.

We may ask you to provide proof of identity before responding to a request involving personal data, to ensure that we do not disclose information to the wrong person.

We will respond to your request within one calendar month. If your request is complex or you have made multiple requests, we may extend this by up to two further months, and we will inform you of any extension within the first month.

8. Complaints to the ICO

If you believe that we have not handled your personal data in accordance with the law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). The ICO is the independent regulator for data protection in the United Kingdom.

We would, however, appreciate the opportunity to address your concern before you escalate it. Please contact us first at privacy@sliding-door-repair.uk.

The ICO can be contacted via their website at ico.org.uk or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.

9. International Transfers

Our website is hosted on infrastructure located within the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (EEA). We do not routinely transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA.

If at any point we engage a service provider whose infrastructure involves transferring personal data outside the UK, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place — such as UK International Data Transfer Agreements, the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses approved for use in the UK — and we will update this policy accordingly.

10. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, or damage. These measures include encrypted transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and secure server infrastructure.

While we take reasonable steps to safeguard your data, no website or internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to our website; any transmission is at your own risk.

11. Children's Data

Our service is not directed at individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@sliding-door-repair.uk and we will take steps to delete that information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal obligations, or the services we offer. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent changes were made.

Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention — for example, by displaying a notice on our website. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us or email privacy@sliding-door-repair.uk.
